Her greatest pleasure is reading.
Её самое большое удовольствие - это чтение.

3. Дополнением

I remember reading it. Я помню, что читал это.
I am fond of reading. Я люблю чтение(читать).

Герундий имеет больше свойств существительного чем инфинитив.

Он может сочетаться с предлогами и определяться притяжательным местоимением или существительным в притяжательном падеже.

I think of going to the south in the autumn.
Я думаю поехать на юг осенью.

He objected to his son`s going to the south.
Он возражал против того, чтобы его сын ехал на юг.

Глагольные свойства герундия как и других неличных форм глагола выражаются в следующем:

1. Герундий может иметь прямое дополнение:

I remember reading this book.

2. Герундий может определяться наречием:

He likes reading aloud.
